Project Advice and Reports
Supporting new projects

Often the most essential element of a
river restoration or enhancement project,
to ensure future sucess, is getting early
independent advice to assess what
might be possible. The River
Restoration Centre can provide Project
Advice and Reports to facilitate and
support potential or planned river
restoration projects. Centre staff
regularly complete site visits to assess
restoration options and provide follow
up advisory notes or short reports.
Providing advice
This advice is available as a discounted service to Organisation, Individual and
Student members or as part of a service level agreement between Corporate
members and the Centre. We are a not-for-profit organisation therefore charges
for additional time and services over and above your membership benefits are
charged solely to cover our costs and to keep the Centre here for you. Usually, 3
to 5 days is sufficient to visit and report back on the potential at a site. Where
budgets can't stretch to site visits RRC can often provide more general written
comments on draft river restoration and enhancement proposals. This latter
advice is necessarily more generic and less specific to the actual site. We can
provide copies of previous option scoping studies to see what might be possible.
UK-wide project experience

RRC's experience is gained by being
actively involved with projects that
significantly advance the knowledge
and understanding of river restoration:
techniques and benefits. The Centre
does not intend to lead further
demonstration projects, as it did
when first formed, but now actively
supports those administered by
others. Through its involvement in
current work and the collation of
historic information, the RRC remains
at the forefront of river restoration
and can advise on state of
the art practice from first hand experience. The Centre has advised on over 150
river restoration and river habitat enhancement projects, from small-scale to
million-pound schemes.
